Your suite or set (it is the set of invitations, tableau, and anything else on paper you decide to do) not only serves to give an idea of the chosen theme, but also informs your guests about the various details of the wedding.
Whether you choose to go to a designer, a typographer, a person who deals with investment catalogs, you will have to decide on some details. There are many possibilities, indeed the variables are endless. Don’t worry, today, I will help you in suggesting some preliminary questions to ask your supplier!
CAN YOU SHARE THE BACKGROUND OR ILLUSTRATION WE USED IN THE GRAPHICS?
Before hiring a designer or a typographer or anyone else, I recommend that you check his work, and evaluate if his style is compatible with your tastes.
Now we come to the question, the background could serve you than to create stories on Instagram, or other material. In my case, yes, I can share both the background and other elements.
DO YOU WORK WITH A CATALOG OR CREATE EVERYTHING FROM ZERO? IF THIS, CAN I SEE SAMPLES FROM YOUR PORTFOLIO OR A GRAPHIC PROOF?
Some designers work exclusively with a catalog, sometimes called a “collection”, others work completely by creating everything from scratch.
From 2020, I decided to have a hybrid form: I give you the possibility to create illustrations according to what you want, but at the same time, I make available to you more than 25 collections designed by me in the form of wedding templates, editable and printable independently.
And the graphic proof? Yes, but only after you hire me. I don’t do drafts in the estimate phase, because drafts are part of my work, and none of us work for free.
First, you need to decide on the colors or just one color, which will most likely reflect the colors of your wedding.
Then the style: for example, do you have a theme? Do you want a plane ticket? My first question is: do you already have an idea? If yes, I ask you to send me some pictures to better understand your requests.
Then you have to choose the fonts and / or calligraphic characters. And finally, the type of paper and the type of printing.
IS THERE A LIMIT OF WORDING?
Yes and no.
It depends on the size of the invitation and how much space we have. Usually, you cannot write a papyrus, unless we study very particular formats, perhaps something folding with several doors!
I am of the idea that you are the bride, and therefore you have to decide.
But sometimes, you may make some wrong choices, but not always a supplier by education tells you their opinion. So, ask for his opinion, but then … you decide according to your tastes!
CAN I HAVE A DELIVERY DATE AND UPDATES FROM THE TIME OF PAYMENT?
Be aware of the time! You should be able to send out your invitations at least 2 months before your wedding and have your confirmations much sooner. To avoid any unnecessary stress and if you have a longer planning period, it would be advisable for your designer to make your invitations in advance.
Anyway yes, I always tell you when I will deliver !!
WHAT IS THE TOTAL COST AND TIMES FOR THE VARIOUS PAYMENTS?
The costs will vary from supplier to supplier, also based on what you decide to do.
Anyway, I immediately say everything during the estimate, I give the total cost, and the various payments that will be made in total transparency.
CAN I SEE THE GRAPHICS BEFORE PRINTING?
Yes, of course, indeed you have to! Because only you will be able to know if there are errors in the most important data: dates, surnames, mobile numbers.
Never underestimate to check the images before printing, because after printing they cannot be corrected.
Always check for any spelling errors, and any last-minute changes. Note: At this stage, your invitations are practically nearly done.
Beware of these changes: in my case, everything is included in the price, so you don’t pay for the changes, but always ask during the quote!
